Dottorato in Informatica e Matematica del Calcolo

Dipartimento di Scienze Teoriche e Applicate

Computational Cognitive Modeling is devoted to understanding the human mind and brain, in terms of their underlying computational processes. Building computer simulations that mimic the intelligent behavior of humans and using these simulations to predict and explain human behavior. What kind of computer is the mind and brain? Can we better understand the mind/brain by building computational cognitive models? Nowadays both psychologists and data scientists are working with increasingly large quantities of human behavioral data: can we better understand behavioral data by building computational cognitive models? Can we improve machine intelligence by incorporating insights from human intelligence? These are some of the questions that will be discussed during the course. As particular applications wewill address artificial neural networks (deep learning) and modeling examples that describe different cognitive mechanisms (learning, decision making, attention, etc).

The course is scheduled for end February/March.
